Question: Are you a landscape architect?
Answer: I call myself a "structure artist in terrace design." I create the designs many times as I'm building the landscape, following my heart.
Question: What made you want to do landscaping?
Answer: Ever since I was five years old or so -- very small -- I had an interest in rocks and plants. I liked to put on some goggles and take my rock hammer and split stones, looking for fossils and crystals. I collected rocks and now I'm in my thirties and have not changed at all, except I create terraces with stones for plants to live in, and sometimes I still find fossils.
Question: Have you ever been hurt building terraces?
Answer: I have only received a few bruises and cuts that were minor. I keep myself in good physical shape, sleep on a good bed, and take a lot of very hot soaking baths which help me stay flexible and helps my muscles heal from all the lifting and bending throughout the day.
Question: How much stone have you installed?
Answer: Between man-made stones and natural stones, it is close to thirteen million pounds now, which does not include all the soil and crushed rock which has been moved at times with the shovel and pickax. It is by His Grace that my body has endured all this without ever a serious injury. I guess hard work does not hurt you if you stay flexible, work smart and feed your body good nutrition and ask for protection.
Question: Why do you have "Stone Cat" on your Bobcat?
Answer: A few years ago, I rolled by Bobcat going full speed backwards and went down four retaining walls doing two flips and somehow landing on all four wheels at the bottom of the terrace. I only received two cuts and a bruise on my upper leg, but everything else came out fine. You can drop a 'Cat upside down and it will land on all its legs. My Bobcat carries stones all day long and it can go upside down and land on all four wheels as well. So, "Stone Cat" is a better name for my faithful work machine.
When I was nineteen years old, I had a vision and words were spoken over me, "He said that My life would touch many and that He would show mighty things through Me." Jesus said if we did not praise Him that the very stones would. I believe the mighty things are still coming and will touch many for His glory, honor, and praise that people everywhere will know His everlasting love and peace. He said He is the Rock of Salvation, and the Rock of Ages.
Question: How would you sum up your landscaping experiences?
Answer: What I have experienced and come through in my challenges with nearly every land situation and around homes in many different soil types in many areas around the county has taught me that God can bring beauty out of awful situations if we have Faith and truly I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me and that His purpose for me is to inspire you to know Him, love Him, and experience Him in your daily life and to help you discover your purpose and His plan for your life.
