Question: Do you speak to groups or organizations?
Answer: Yes! I will come and speak at garden shows and garden clubs, youth groups, churches, and schools who are looking for an inspirational message that will bring hope and encouragement and beauty into people's lives. My wife and I just produced a DVD that is a part of our presentation called "Stones in Praise" and "what is your Gift." It is about finding and developing and releasing your gift from God for His Glory.

Question: Does it cost me money to have you come speak?
Answer: No, it is free of charge unless a long distance is involved.

Question: Did anyone teach you landscaping?
Answer: The only teaching I have had has come through my dad who taught me how to build my first rock garden. The rest has come to me when I've been working with stones through using my faith. I have nothing against degrees, school, or reading good books (in fact, I just wrote one!), but where you learn is through building landscapes and having courage to challenge land areas to make them beautiful. Experience is everything and I have a lot of it through what I've done by His Grace. But experience with knowledge and inspiration is great!

Question: Is it true you have built almost every terrace shown in the book by yourself?
Answer: Yes, all the large terraces in my book, Inspirational Terracing, I built all by myself. 80 designs in the book out of 83 I built all by myself. I had help on three small designs with moving stones into place from a student of mine. I have had help for only four months during the course of eleven years. The book only represents 1/7th of my work the past 11 years. So now I'm ready for my company to grow and have a few good people be my assistants.... people who want to build great landscapes and stay with my company.

Question: Did you always want to do a book?
Answer: No, I would have never thought I could do a book. It came to me one day during the winter when I was going through all my portfolio photos. I realized I had a revelation on terracing that nobody else knew. Now, I have the very first book ever done on "terrace design" and it all came to me through my faith and much prayer during my projects.

Question: What do you see for yourself in the future?
Answer: I see myself and my company building terraces in many areas around the country for people to enjoy. I see two more books coming when the time is right. I see myself teaching many that will come to the Peace Garden that will go back to their homes and touch many. I also see my three beautiful children discovering their God-given talents to become who they are called to be in this world. I hope I can help them in every way get there, that they will be happy and fulfilled in their lives releasing the creativity that is inside them. I also want to build an Inspirational Youth Center to help kids come out of the dark places of life and help them discover their gifts and talents so they can fulfill their dreams and destinies.

Philosophy
Question: You talk about faith and prayer a lot... why?
Answer: For every terrace I have ever built, I asked for the design to be revealed to me for that particular project. I asked for guidance and protection and to find the right materials for the project. I have experienced many amazing things because of my faith. I know I have not been alone. The angels of God have surrounded me over the years (read Psalm 40:1-3. It is my verse!)

Everyone has a cross to carry; what is your cross?

Question: What does the dove mean on your sleeve?
Answer: Building with Imagination by Inspiration. It is also the symbol of peace and God's Spirit, which I rely heavily upon during projects.

Question: What is the difference between imagination and inspiration?
Answer: Everyone has imagination that is a part of your mind, but inspiration comes into your mind through your spirit and if you have given Him your heart and believe in him. He said He would put His spirit in you and that it would move upon you. If you obey it when it comes, great things will happen to you in your life.

Question: What are your landscaping dreams?
Answer: I really believe that I'm just now ready to build some tremendous terraces that I want to be for everyone in Public places or for people who will share their home with many. If people or towns would give me a large enough piece of ground, with some money to work with, I would cause those dollars to become a living terrace, inspired with life that would bless multitudes of people throughout the years to come.

Landscaping
Question: Are you a landscape architect?
Answer: I call myself a "structure artist in terrace design." I create the designs many times as I'm building the landscape, following my heart.

Question: What made you want to do landscaping?
Answer: Ever since I was five years old or so -- very small -- I had an interest in rocks and plants. I liked to put on some goggles and take my rock hammer and split stones, looking for fossils and crystals. I collected rocks and now I'm in my thirties and have not changed at all, except I create terraces with stones for plants to live in, and sometimes I still find fossils.

Question: Have you ever been hurt building terraces?
Answer: I have only received a few bruises and cuts that were minor. I keep myself in good physical shape, sleep on a good bed, and take a lot of very hot soaking baths which help me stay flexible and helps my muscles heal from all the lifting and bending throughout the day.

Question: How much stone have you installed?
Answer: Between man-made stones and natural stones, it is close to thirteen million pounds now, which does not include all the soil and crushed rock which has been moved at times with the shovel and pickax. It is by His Grace that my body has endured all this without ever a serious injury. I guess hard work does not hurt you if you stay flexible, work smart and feed your body good nutrition and ask for protection.

Question: Why do you have "Stone Cat" on your Bobcat?
Answer: A few years ago, I rolled by Bobcat going full speed backwards and went down four retaining walls doing two flips and somehow landing on all four wheels at the bottom of the terrace. I only received two cuts and a bruise on my upper leg, but everything else came out fine. You can drop a 'Cat upside down and it will land on all its legs. My Bobcat carries stones all day long and it can go upside down and land on all four wheels as well. So, "Stone Cat" is a better name for my faithful work machine.

When I was nineteen years old, I had a vision and words were spoken over me, "He said that My life would touch many and that He would show mighty things through Me." Jesus said if we did not praise Him that the very stones would. I believe the mighty things are still coming and will touch many for His glory, honor, and praise that people everywhere will know His everlasting love and peace. He said He is the Rock of Salvation, and the Rock of Ages.

Question: How would you sum up your landscaping experiences?
Answer: What I have experienced and come through in my challenges with nearly every land situation and around homes in many different soil types in many areas around the county has taught me that God can bring beauty out of awful situations if we have Faith and truly I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me and that His purpose for me is to inspire you to know Him, love Him, and experience Him in your daily life and to help you discover your purpose and His plan for your life.
